Castuner

Privacy

Castuner is a podcast directory. You can browse, search and listen without an account, and there are no accounts to make.

What we keep

  • Page views, counted without knowing who you are. We use Umami, served from Castuner's own address, which sets no cookies and keeps no IP address. It tells us which pages are read, not who reads them.
  • Server and security logs. Like any website, our servers and Cloudflare, which sits in front of them, see your IP address and the page you ask for. We use these logs to keep the site running and to stop abuse, and we keep them for 30 days.
  • Errors. When a page fails, we record the error, without your IP address, to fix it.
  • What you submit. If you submit a podcast, we keep its feed address and publish the podcast if the feed works.

What stays in your browser

The player remembers where you stopped each episode, so you can pick up where you left off, and the site remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Both are stored in your own browser (its local storage), never sent to us, and you can clear them by clearing this site's data.

What other services see

  • Audio and artwork load from the podcasts' own hosts. When you press play, your browser fetches the episode straight from where the podcaster publishes it, and the same goes for some artwork. Those hosts see your IP address, as they would in any podcast app, under their own privacy policies.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is submitting a podcast. It runs only on the submission page.
