Preacher: The Rev'd Dr Stephen Cherry, Dean, King's College, CambridgeStephen returned to King's as Dean in September 2014, after having served there as Chaplain in the early 1990s. In between he was a parish priest in Loughborough for 12 years and then a Cathedral Canon and Diocesan Officer in Durham for 8. He has written a number of books, one of which concerns the psychology and theology of forgiveness: 'Healing Agony: Reimagining Forgiveness' (Continuum 2012). The book argues that true forgiveness cannot be willed or demanded, but that by the grace of God and the creative generosity of the victim it may sometimes emerge overtime. He is currently working on a book on sin.
