The Future is Queer

Jens Benöhr

“The Future is Queer” is a podcast interview to Nicole Seymour exploring the future through a playful and queer ecology perspective. Nicole is a scholar and professor of English based in Southern California. She works in the environmental humanities, asking how literature and other cultural forms –from documentary film to stand-up comedy– mediate our relationship to the environmental crisis. Nicole is the author of Strange Natures (2015) and Bad Environmentalism (2018), and several papers where she explores the intersectionality of environmental politics and LGBTQ politics. The interview was made by Jens Benöhr (aka Juanito del Biobío), Chilean anthropologist and ecologist, and member of the River Collective, in the context of Utopia Seminar, dictated by Philip Tapa for the Rachel Carson Center. The introduction was narrated by landscape architect Kara Lena Virik. The cover illustration was made by Otto Etraud.
