Kamp Krystal Killjoy
Kristin Comeforo
Slasher films are fiction. There is no clown under your bed or hidden behind your shoes and dirty laundry in your closet. Or so we are told by those in authority. What happens when we look closely at slasher/horror films through a feminist lens? What can they teach us about the living monstrosities of multiple and intersecting systems of racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homo- and trans- phobia? Kamp Krystal Killjoy reimagines Friday the 13th. The final girl is cast as a feminist killjoy, assembling an intersectional army, and deploying their survival kit to save our lives, and our souls.
